Stopping the Behaviors
Stopping starts with Awareness.
The first awareness is the
recognition that the behaviors
are causing distress or are problematic.
Then we work on becoming aware
of the behaviors:
when do they occur
what surrounds the occurrence
is there a cycle or pattern?
Then we move to:
Finding ways to interrupt the
patterns.
Finding substitute behaviors.
Short circuiting the cycle.
We use several techniques to
help decrease the behaviors.
